Feedback nagging

I'm usually quite laid back about most of the things that annoy many eBay buyers, including chase-ups for feedback from sellers, but methinks this is getting a bit much for a single week!
A message 1 - 2 days after arrival of the item "item was delivered so please leave feedback."
A feedback chase-up from a different seller on the day the item was delivered!
And a third one I'd welcome opinions on.
This was a cheapo USB digital TV tuner stick for a computer. Got it OK, but although the device was recognised by Windows I couldn't get it to recognise a single TV channel. I play with media centre PCs quite a lot, so know what I'm doing, and have had other cheapo tuners - all of which have given me some channels, even if not as many as I'd get with a better quality one.
Spent hours trying to get it to work, but gave up. Low-value item, and couldn't be bothered with all the fuss of going through the dispute process, so just left it alone. I wasn't going to leave positive feedback for receiving a non-working item, but neither was I going to leave a neg or neutral when I hadn't given the seller a chance to resolve the problem.
Somewhere around the 45-day deadline for raising disputes the seller messaged me asking for feedback. I replied saying why I hadn't left any.
10 days later I got another message telling me the item was working and he's not happy with this, also with a link to the Digital UK switchover page. Starting to annoy me now
The seller has feedback of over 80, though DSRs are below 4.6 in 2 categories. The guy's got his money, and with his feedback I wouldn't expect Paypal to be suspending the payment.
Has he got any got good reason to be getting so fussed over my lack of feedback? Hassling a buyer is not a good way to improve your DSR's and implying I don't know what I'm doing does tempt me to leave some feedback after all...

There could be several reasons why Pay Pal may hold funds, apparantly they can hold funds until buyers leave feedback for items in some "high risk" categories. He may want feedback so that he can ramp up his monthly DSR's for TRS/Powerseller status. Some sellers have an automated email facility which will generate a feedback request email to buyers who have not left feedback after a certain amount of days. I have to agree it is annoying being badgered for feedback, afterall feedback is voluntary and not compulsory.0 -
I used to get annoyed at people not leaving me feedback as a buyer or a seller but now, im not so fussed feedback isnt compulsory, maybe you should remind him of that. otherwise id just ignore him0
-
Thanks for the replies. My inclination is to just ignore him, but came on here to verify I'm not acting unfairly.
Kestrel - thanks for the list, but the only one that looks like it fits is if the seller was attempting to ramp up DSRs (sub-4.6 in 2 categories). But as I said before - hassling your buyer may well alter your feedback and scores, but not in the direction you want!!!!0 -
I would either ignore him, or leave him a neutral. He can't bug you any more if you've already left feedback, right?Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

Like you said, you dont want to give him a positive if item not working, but not fair to give him neg or neutral if you havent given him a chance to rectify.
So best option is completely ignore.
And just as bad (IMO) as feedback nagging is feedback nagging moaning! It really is sooooo unimportant.....“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -
Grrrr! This makes me want to ignore them completely!!!0

I picked up an item I won and as I was leaving the seller said " don't forget feedback will you ? - I'll do the same for you" Well I did and guess what ! he didn't. Git0

Had two buyers yesterday message asking for feedback.
We do it in blocks so they would have got it anyway, but hey ho.
Sellers I can sort of understand (although it is one of my bugbears.) but buyers? Why do they care in the first place?
They'd already left their positive feedback, so it can't be in fear of the retailiation that we can't do anyway.
Always makes me suspect that they are farming.
Just end up leaving something that mentions that feedback was asked for. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Did they have low feedback? While I never asked for it, I was desperate to get a bit of my positive because I wanted the pretty star:rotfl: Plus some sellers say no lower than X amount of feedback to bid (totally ignoring the fact sellers can't be left negs so they're a bit worthless..)0 -
Rather an irony this - as part of the thread earlier in the year, I was asking on how to ask for feedback myself as a seller - though with a bit more subtlety than the nagging I got!!0
