Sony mp3 problem

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help.
I have a Sony NWZB14f MP3 walkman.
Today I cannot get it to turn on at all.
It was charged with power but now, when I plug it in to the usb a message appears that reads:

"USB Device not recognised. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it. Click this message"

I click the message. Then this one appears:
"USB not recognised. Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognise it, replace the device"

Does this then mean my MP3 is knackered or can I do anything to resolve it.

Thanks
