Help, Solicitor charge for sellin.. How much?

Hi, i`ve just had an offer accepted on my £80k house.. I don`t have a house to buy as i`m already renting elsewhere. How much should I be looking to pay for a solicitor.

PS- After paying £350 for a home buyers pack should the solicitor fee be less as they`ve got less to do?:(

Either flick back over the last 2-3 pages and read posts about conveyancing, or use the search function (top right). the Q comes up every day!

The HIP is for the benefit of the buyer and his/her solicitor, it makes no difference to the work your own solicitor will do. Might even make more work for them if the buyer's solicitor insits on a full-colour printed version rather than a e-copy.

you should expect to pay £500 plus vat.

The HIP is indeed irrelevant to what your lawyer does, as nothing in it helps the seller.
My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:

My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o

I think timmy means that is what he would charge you.

You will find solicitors/conveyancers who'll charge less.. and more. Just make sure the quotes include ALL aspects so you're comparing like with like.

Just "Flicked back" the last 6 pages and the question didn`t come up. Why didn`t you just answer my question instead of being a Richard the Third??? :p
  • You could Google "Conveyancing Solicitors [name of your town]" and see what comes up - go for the local ones rather than the big factory ones that pay for priority listings or use Adsense.

Phone them up and ask them and get it all detailed in writing so you can compare like with like. If someone says they charge you for an extra then phone the others and ask if they do.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
