Hi there.
Currently im using one of the big old tube monitors. The last two flat screens i had were widescreen.
As i do a lot of artwork and photography, it wasnt what i needed. It didnt matter what resolution or other setting i altered, i still had the problem.
After being spoken to rather rudely by a PC World staff, i've decided to come here and ask!
What is the best 4:3 ratio monitor going at the moment? I dont want to spend a fortune on it but if it doesnt stretch everything and isnt as dark as sin [like the one im using at the moment] then i'll be happy.
Thank's in advance!

"What is the best 4:3 ratio monitor going at the moment?"
Bit of a silly question without telling us how much your willing to pay. The 'best' would probably be in the thousands:idea:0 -
Oh dear, spoken at rudely here too...
Generally, people who don't want to spend a fortune mean no more than £200 and less if possible. So if I were in that situation I would go to dabs.com where you finetune your selection by price and screen format along with many other things.0 -
Turn the wide screen on its side then ? Would that do ? What real estate / screen size do you want ?0

First thing id look at is the settings on the one you have now. if its 'stretching' the image then it sounds like you need to change the screen format (if possible) so that it doesnt auto size
As for it being too dark, surely turning up brightness and contrast and maybe the colour settings will sort that out?:idea:0 -

Alienrik is a good un on here, it does help to include as much relevant info as possible so posters can help.
Personally if you have up to £200, i would go for a 24" widescreen flat monitor, so you have plenty of real estate for photography and artwork.
I use two 24" monitors and its an ideal setup for photoshop, I can rotate the monitors if I working on a document type artwork and keep all the controls and tools on one monitor whilst keeping to other as the active workspace.0
