  • totally agree with above, just make sure that you put some sand underneath the paving slabs if you can

The method of locking really depends on the bikes. If they're worth say £200, then drilling a hole in the concrete and sticking in a eyelet to padlock to would be enough. If the bikes are more, then you need to consider tougher measures.
Bear in mind all of this is upping the deterrent level- if the bikes were £10k then a keen thief could get through almost any protection you could have.

My shed has rested on paving slabs for 27 years, sound as a bell. Only slight problem is, having left gaps between for ventilation, hedgehogs think its great, which is rather nice, but since the advent of the council recycling mania, so do the increased rat population.

Well a month later after more than 100square feet of concrete/rubble removal , i have lots of aches (!) but also have an ecobase shed base finished off with a timber surround ready for a 9'x9' shed from florada. Anyway for anyone considering a shed base i'd recommend it..my recommended supplier for it here: http://www.simplygardenbuildings.co.uk/swift-ecobase-shed-foundation-43-p.asp (also sell florada sheds though going to manufacturer direct is cheaper).
Once you've got past the levelling the ground stage laying the base is really quick. Not sure i'd recommend breaking out that amount of concrete again though!

p.s. Wouldn't recommend taylors garden buildings i linked to in my previous post due to their inability to price match on the ecobase - despite the claims on their website.
