Hi.
I've just had my walls skimmed and want to have laminate flooring laid so want some guidance of the order of work
i currently have carpet and have just had some stone cladding taken out. will be replacing the carpet with laminate flooring.
I understand its better to have the skirting boards changed so that the laminate will go under the boards rather than use beading which can look tacky and come away easily, correct?
But you do flooring last, so i need to get my newly skimmed walls painted (And one wall papered) first.
do i then get the skirting boards done before the flooring? Or is this something that the laminate flooring layer can do? After which they will need painting - is this easy enough to do myself, or will i be best getting a decorator in for those, or is it something a laminate layer could do? I've no experience as you can probably tell!
with the ceiling there is also 2 light fittings geting changed and ive just had artex removed. do I get the electrician in before the decorator paints the ceiling? Or after?

lay the floor first. tell the floor layer you are using new skirtings only.
if you are replacing the skirting boards (wise choice) then thats the last job.
paint the skirting before installing it. it helps a lot. you may have to fill/touch up any screw holes after.
if you paint the walls first then you just may have to touch a little, later on.
the decorator is unlikely to fit skirtings for you. either a chippy or the floor layer.
changing the lights can be done either way.Get some gorm.0 -
