If Katie Browns's current businesses have all been shut, that's great news. In my experience, scammers tend to return, but at least a lot of parents and kids are hopefully going to be spared the distress of losing hundreds of pounds and having no party.

I look forward to the story. Big thanks to Jack Tyler and a few others who exposed this woman for the person she really is. Well done, guys.

Fantastic news!!!!! Deserved pats on backs Jack n Scooby, not forgetting everyone else who has shown that by working together as a team, crooks like this have a good reason to be afraid. Just one little victims voice, can speak far louder for a call of help, than the sniggers of those crooks who think they are invincible.

Another one bites the dust ;)

  • I saw an advertising banner for this company the other day in Brum and thought of you guys, haha!
I hope she thinks better of starting again, and letting down more poor kids.

My friend had a party booked for her daughter yesterday with this company (fully paid for) and they didn't turn up... after doing a bit of research on here I can see why!!!

Can anyone advise me how my friend can go about getting a refund or is there no hope? She has obviously tried to get hold of them but had no luck whatsoever

ask your friend to contact trading standards - they're fully aware of this problem. all the necessary contact details are here:

as for getting a refund, who knows, but at least your friend might be able to help stop this happening to anyone else.

Sorry, another question... I read through the other thread (which is closed now) and there was a statement on there from the company saying they ceased trading on 7th Mar but my friend contacted them after this date to confirm they had received her payment and check details and they confirmed they were still coming... were they just lying or is that statement wrong?

their precise trading status remains somewhat unclear. i have been informed by some parents, that trading standards have told them, that they (trading standards) have closed down the business.

i cannot confirm this myself, but it seems very likely.

however, there is nothing to stop the owner of this business starting up again, under a new name, or different area, or putting the business in someone elses name (for example, a partner or family member).

i don't think this will be the end of it, somehow.

there is a thread on mumsnet, you could ask your friend to post to, or you could make a post yourself. the more information there is for people, the better.
