Barclays AND barlaycard claim?

Hi all..

I've been meaning to get around to doing something about this for some time. I'm currently a full time student and finances aren't really brilliant!

I've Probbaly been getting chraged silly fees for the last decade by both, hovering around the limit, being a student and/or unemployed through this period.

But what can I claim for? how long back can I claim? Where do I start?

I gather a letter to each one requesting all transactions is the first thing but how far back should I ask? (is there some limit to the period in which you can claim?)

Should I also open a bank account and an interest free card account in case they decide to close either or both?

Being barclays bank and barclaycard just how awkward are they going to be? what sort of underhand deviousness can I expect to deal with? Is there anything anyone can suggest to save time and hassle?

Time is not really an issue, I'd like to clear as much of my overdraft and card debt with this as possible, currently i barely manage to pay for fuel and living and pay off charges as well.

Thanks for reading!

With regards to Barclays current account there is the usual fees plus the £22.00 reserve fees and £8.00 fees. Please read the guide to reclaiming charges with regards to the bank account before your proceed. The Credit card claim will be easier.

Hi WeaselOfFury and welcome to MSE. :hello:

If you've not already done so, have a read of the MSE guides to reclaiming credit card charges

    and bank charges

Lots of good advice in there together with some sample/template letters.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the replys
I did look through the stickys but will check them again..

The credit card letter looks very promising! I'll definitely give that a try.. does seem to be from last year.. hopefully they react the same way now.
I could probably really improve my situation by dumping the lot on a 0% credit card.

I'm happy to take my time with it, the more I can clear the better.
