Lost Vauxhall key

Hi,

I stupidly dropped my keys down a drain and they are not recoverable.:(

I am currently using my spare key to get around but don't feel comfortable having just one key.

I have called the local Vauxhall garage and they quoted £180!!

Is there any way of doing this without going through a dealership as that is a LOT of money on a key!

Thank you
WG x

What sort of drain was it, can you not lift the cover and get them back?

    How old is the Vauxhall?
My Ford came with only one zapper key and one manual key - cloning a second zapper from the first zapper was about 45 quid and I thought that expensive.

Most vauxhall keys can only be programmed only the very first generation can be cloned. but even so £180 sounds expencive I would suggest ringing around the local Auto locksmiths for some prices.

Try different dealerships too, they might all have different margin on parts prices so it may vary a little.

ISTR that on enquiry for a replacement key for a 2008 Tigra, I was quoted around £100 + 30 minutes labour for the car in the service department as the new key would have to be coded for the vehicle. You are not paying for just a piece of plastic and metal!
