I'm currently with dual Scot Power and need to update my tariff. I'm finding it difficult to understand the comparison sites as I don't think it's relevant what I pay, how can they know what it's for? Surely it's the units used AND the price to be able to do a like for like.
A lot of sites, and here, say EON, but they could only cut £270 off and yet Scot Power say £450. These are the only companies I've contacted and only because I got a cold call from EON.
My consumption I've found out is 55,665 gas and 8,273 Elec.
Does anyone know a good site for higher consumption?

The comparison sites know all the suppliers different tariffs.
As long as you input your usage (and location/supply region), it'll give you the list of cheapest options for you and the annual cost. They also ask for your current supplier & tariff so that they can calculate the savings, but even if you don't provide that, the list of cheapest suppliers/tariffs will still be correct, just the savings would be misleading.
Where suppliers quote savings of say £270 on a website where no data has been input, it's based on averages, and usually compares against a rival's (most expensive) standard rate tariff. (The website/literature will explain how they came to the figure somewhere in the small print)
Use the comparison sites in the resource bar above to find the best deal for you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... So enter you annual consumption figures into the comparison sites in the resource bar:

Hi Confuse.com - Never, never Switch suppliers on the basis of a doorstep call, phone call or being buttonholed by a salesperson in a public place.
Your post says 'you have found out' your consumption figures but don't say where from. These figures are huge - The gas figure is enough to supply 3 average homes and the electric could supply 2.
I'm afraid it's case of doing your homework and looking at least the last years bills to calculate what your annual consumptions of Gas & Elec really are, as entering the consumption, not the cost, will give you the most accurate feed-back from the Switch sites - I personally use switchwithwhich, but there plenty out there
