Smile rejection with 977 credit score??

I've just been refused a smile current account with a credit score of 977.
I own my own place, had it for nearly 4 years. No arrears. No defaults, although did have one removed recently due to a fault on their part. Its not showing anymore either. Have 3 credit cards all paid off. Current account with BOS for last 6 years. I am so confused. The faulty default has messed me up for 2 years but I sorted it and now this? Anyone got any advice? I have written to Smile today. E-mailed them. Any help would be most welcome. Thanks

I think they might be in that sort of mood, I got turned down too

Not sure what my credit score is, but it's a 100% clean and reliable record

Did you get this credit score of 977 from Equifax or Experian? People seem to fall for the marketing that they use. This score means nothing in terms of wether a provider will grant you credit. Each provider will use an internal score to asses wether you will be granted a credit based product like a current account. You can ask for a review of the application, but you can't really second guess why a provider may or may not accept you. They will never reveal how they score people exactly due to to commercial sensitivity and the potential for application fraud.
  • I got the score from Experian. I've been through my file. I just cant see what has caused this. Can I get help to get to sort this out?

See M Thomson's post that immediately preceded yours. The banks are not bound by Experian or Equifax; they work to their own criteria. IMHO you are unlikely to get any help.

Simply put, just as you choose who you will do nusiness with, so will the bank, and it need not be a reflection on you.
