    A one hour walk isn't excessive but on a push bike this distance would take about 15-20 minutes. If he wants council housing then he needs to accept something before he is made homeless, if it then really does turn out to be unsuitable for him he can give up the tenancy and look for a private let.

    I live over 300 miles away from any of my family, sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do, he will be very lucky to still live in the same town as family and friends.
