If I buy a car from a dealers should I pay by credit card?

Cheques generally carry very little expense, though being phased out, and direct bank transfer usually none for either party. Direct transfer is often same day - usually a couple of hours if under the 'Faster Payments' system but is capped at £10k or less depending on your bank - so you have to make a second transfer if its above that.Just out of curiosity, if you don't pay by CC, how else would you pay? All payment methods carry some cost somewhere along the line..
Debit cards like Maestro are also very low - which is why they are free to use on Government web sites (e.g. car tax renewal) and discount places like Lidl, Costco and Ikea where margins are tight - if you flash a credit card you get clobbered with a surcharge if they take them at all.0
