Electron being phased out?

If the card can't connect with hsbc for clearance, then it just declines. such as pay at pump and trains and planes

if that the case my card wouldn't work in pay at pump and trains which it does
mine is the new style visa debit and it works fine

Well i just got visa to clarify whether or not Electron was being phased out, I hope this clears it all up

Visa is not phasing out Electron but we are seeing that banks are increasingly choosing to issue Visa Debit cards instead as they now offer the same functionality as Visa Electron but with wider acceptance. Any decision to stop issuing Visa Electron is made by the bank, not by Visa.
