Hi

Just a few Q's

1. Is it legal?
2. Is the premium account worth it
3. Will it work with AOL (Someone said it wouldn't, but source is unreliable)
4. How do I open RAR files I d/l

Thanks for any help! I'm behind with technology and things like this!

    Hi
Sorry don't know what Rapidshare is, but for winrar files, just right click and choose extract here, and they will extract into whatever format they were in, before they were compressed. I usaully put them in their own folder before I extract them, so you know where are the files are.

    Hope this helps

Thanks, will give it a go. Will I need to download WinRAR, or will another program do the job?

The legality depends on what you are downloading, I would have thought - there are many legal files available.

Your call on two, and I have no knowledge of three, sorry.

WinRar is best for Rar files, but not free. 7-Zip should work too, and is free.

    Regards,

As long as it's a reputable download site and not illegal, it's fine. I only want music videos and interviews etc.

    I will try 7-zip, thanks.

It is worth getting a premium account because you can download multiple files not have to wait 75 minutes to do one after the other and you can use download managers.

You can disconnect from net and reconnect and download a new file if you wish, however downloading 10 at a time is better than waiting and disconnecting.

The ones that are rar and zipped and pw protected are usually porno & warez and are password protected and you need the password from the creator (usually at the site you got the links from to open them).

Legality depends on what is downloaded some is legal but the main use for storing a file online in this way is usually illegal.

A premium account has some good benifits like multiple downloads, alot of ISP's now block access to rapidshare free and the only way round it is to use a premium account. :( my ISP do I dont know about AOL just find a link and give the free one a go why pay for it if you can get somthing for free. there is a site that translates links for you in to a premium link but it isnt working at the moment as they need a few premium accounts for it to work.

Opening rar files has been explained, use winrar or whatever.

    EDIT:
now you will have the problem of finding out which codecs are needed to play all the new videos and stuff you download search for Gspot it will tell you. no not THE Gspot its a program that finds out which type each video file is.

If you use microsoft windows search for the codec packs at their media site.

winrar is imo the best, you get a 40 day trial, doesnt seem to expire.

Just a nag, however registering it is worth the money.

As long as it's a legal system and not an illegal site, that's okay.

Well, I signed up for 1 month at 9.90Eur, but can't get any of the files to play.

I have allsorts of codecs but :rotfl: @ Gspot

If you are having difficulty getting files to play, download VLC media player. You can find it at https://www.download.com. That seems to play pretty much anything - hasn't failed me yet.
