find it is the most user friendly , the host click on one tab to get a unique code , the other enters the code and then the connection is set up

I use logmein free. That works well if it has already been set up on the machine you want to connect to, not sure how easy it is if you don't have access to the machine to install the software.

For CrossLoop, ignore all the stuff about Setting up An Account, and click on Skip, etc. Works pretty well...

TeamviewerLots of features all easy works out of the box uses the same type of procedure for logging in as crossloop. BUT it can be set up to allow automatic access without your mum needing to do anything. - get portable version set it up pass it on easy to use. If you want auto logon you'll need the install version on your mum's pc.
  • Teamviewer gets my vote. Much better when a reboot is required too, if set up correctly.
