Hi guys,
I just had a quote for the following work, can you tell me if it's reasonable - I rec it sounds a bit on the costly side!!
Remove the existing flash band (4-5m) and replace with new code 4 lead apron flashing chased to adjoining wall. Plus remove and replace barge boards (4m).
£700 plus VAT was the quote - is this a rip off?

How can it be a rip off when it's a quote?

Now you have details of what SUPPOSEDLY needs doing ring other companies and ask them what they would do it for.0

1 roll lead £150 at most . bargeboards ? 2 lengths pvc at say £100 . 1 days labour for 1 man £200
HTHI`m now officially too old to die young0 -
That's really useful.
LOL
Your post contains absolutely no detail of the job
Is this a bungalow or the top of Canary Wharf?
Is the roofer expected to balance on the top of a conservatory for access, or is a scaffold required?
Do you expect the roofer to work unlawfully off a ladder or properly off a scaffold?
Is there a 1 mile trek to the job or is it next to the road?
Is the building rendered or just plain brick
When the barge boards come off, what will hold the verge up?
Are the barge boards to be timber or plastic?
Shall I go on?
You've got no chance of getting anywhere near a meaningful answer by just asking if its reasonable to charge £700 to replace flashing and bargeboards0
