House next to Joinery work shops

Hi, we like a property and it ticks all our needs. But it is right next to joinery workshops. There are 3 consecutive workshops.

· Will this make noise?
· Would you prefer buying this house?

We are going to visit at different times and find out but what is a general feeling from you guys?

Thanks for advice...

I would avoid like the plague. You will have the sound of power tools all day every day and as already stated, the prospect of deliverys and all those reversing alarms!

would depend i think, i would go and speak to the people who run the workshops and find out when they work (ie if it was 9-5 and i worked 9-5 then that may not be a big issue) same for deliveries etc

There is also the point that it c.ould be used for another even noisier business at some time in the future.

It will definately put alot of people off, but presumably it's priced to reflect this. If it's not very cheap then I wouldn't consider it.

Could be worth speaking to your local Planning Officer to see if there are any restrictions in the planning consent with regard to operational hours and noise levels. If there are restrictions in place then it might not be too bad. If they can only operate 9-5 on weekdays then it may not affect you at all. Could also worth checking if any planning applications have been made - somebody could be planning the build some houses there in the future, which would presumably increase the value of the house you're looking at.

Go and sit there for a couple of hours ... see how busy it is.
    Ask neighbours.
