what's the best Joint account?

Me and the missus have recently had a wee baby and are thinking about setting up a joint account, as her self-employment income will be significantly reduced when she re-starts work after the maternity allowance finishes. Previously I took care of all the bills (minus her mobile and pet insurance) and she took care of all the food shopping.
We both want to keep our own accounts open and open a 3rd joint account, putting in around £500 per month. Anyone have any hints about what's the best deal out there????
