  • I have had the Tesco elliptical since Christmas and it has been used 6 times a week since by my wife and I and it is working great. I bought it for £99.99, even at that price it was a good buy.

The machine creeks a little but apart from that it is very good for the money. Well worth a go. Even more of a bargain at £50!

Ab trainer and video is a good price but a little on the tame side! Just stick to a good sit up routine and save yourself even more money.
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist.

Buying your own gym equipment is not a good investment in the long term.

It will get used for a few weeks then just become a clothes horse or an eyesore :D:D

I have gym membership and the usual exercise bike and other stuff at home, but never use the home equipment anymore.

I prefer the gym, even though it costs megabucks, as some of the motivation is about getting out the house and meeting real people. :D

A proper gym has good quality equipment such as Life Fitness.
  • I bought one 13 months ago and I doubt it has been used more than half a dozen times. The quality is very poor. I am a long way below the maximum weight but it shook in a quite alarming fashion when I used it.

Not a bargain at any price, I am afraid!

The best keep fit regime is free. My wife has hidden the tv remote and I have to physically move to change channels. She tried the sit up routine with me before - sellotaped the remote to my ankles!

True and not true. It depends. The gym will cost a lot but it also depends whether you are willing to travel and spend a lot. The cost of good quality gym equipment will come to around an annual subscription but most likely less plus you can use it as and when you like and sell it off if you don't. Also, forget the cheap brands if you want to waste your money and forget the high end like Life Fitness, Matrix etc. Instead go for solid brands like Kettler or Reebok etc which will last better than others. Try to avoid the all in ones like the Argos version which is not bad but how much of the stuff will you actually use? Better to stick to specifics.
