Primus Home Phone Max - Free anytime UK calls, too good to be true?

Hi

I was on a price comparison site and came across a company called Primus who offer a "Primus Home Phone Max" package where you get free UK daytime, evening, and weekend calls for a monthly fee of £2.89 and a line rental £10.99.

They also have a good user rating, 4 stars out of 5 (97 reviews)!

It appears to good to be true, anyone have any feedback to give about this company? Also, I would be interested to know your recommendations for a good phone pacakage.

Also, if I do take out the Primus package will I still be able to use my Orange Broadband since they (and other providers) require a BT line? does this mean I need to be paying line rental to BT? :o

Primus (but not the package you mention) is recommended by Martin.

Personally, I've used one of Primus's Carrier PreSelect packages for some years and have had no problems at all.

That's the free Penny Mobile 2 CPS package - which gives me free evening (6pm to 8am) and weekend UK 01/02/03 calls of up to 90 minutes each and allows me to make calls to UK mobiles for a flat rate of 20p for up to 20 minutes.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Hi
Thanks for yiour feedback. What are customer service like? I just phoned up to enquire and got through to a right prat, he just did not seem bothered. I wont rule them out yet.

I work from home and looking for a good broadband and phone package. Talk Talks Pro package looks good, at around 29.00 + 2.00 for internation boost. Its a shame primus dont offer the international boost.

Customer Services? No idea, I've never had the need to call them.

which comparison site did you find the £2.89 deal on? The main website says it's £15.99(or £15.69 if you take the Eco option) so a couple quid more than the better deal you found

What are Primus offering new customers?

Primus provide new CPS customers with the option of taking their calls and line rental so all their phone charges are on one convenient bill. You may also choose additional features to be added to their line rental such as Call Divert or Three Way Calling. (Please see the below, ‘Network Features’). Primus will then be your single point of contact for their phone service for any queries about their bill, faults or amends to features on their line rental.

Heres the offer the op refers to http://www.homephonechoices.co.uk/package-info.asp?ProductID=229&name=primus-home-phone-max

0845/0870 calls are not included . Mobile calls are expensive.Caller display is extra.

Reports i have read here suggest customer service has deteriorated since its been moved abroad from Scotland.

They dont appear to be offering cps your calls only anymore as savemoney points out.

They are not free, it will cost you £13.88 a month for line rental and INCLUSIVE calls, try not paying the monthly charge and see if they will give you calls for free!

    Free = at no cost!
