    Thanks for that hilary1.

No offence intended but we should probably keep referral IDs firmly off this thread, or:

    a) Everyone will pile in and do it, and

    b) the thread will get moved to the Referrers board by the Moderators which would be a great shame.

    I know I was being cheeky, sorry:o

Sorry - I phrased it really badly in my previous post. When I said "find" I didn't mean literally where is it (although it's very helpful of you to put the link for everyone's benefit.)

What I meant by find was really - is it any good? Do they respond and sort it out? Is their facility better or worse than their competition?

    Sorry for not being clearer.

Just thought i'd let any potential RPointers know to avoid these fools!

I have been an RPoints user for about 3 years now and have had about £275 cashback from them. I don't do all these daily click thingys, I just go through RPoints for my purchases.

    Problems I have experienced:

    1. Recently I have had a number of purchases that have not tracked. The latest leaving me up to £110 out of pocket because I took a higher car insurance policy through them because it was cheaper after cashback. It hasn't shown on my statement and now I will be down on the deal.

    2. The forum they run is really handy if you have questions about cashback and you can usually get a quick response. The problems arrise if you even think about mentioning another cashback co or the Highest Cashback Promise.
Fair enough they won't let you advertise their rivals, but I have had posts locked (hence whu I came over here to post) because the heavy handed moderator "had a suspicion that the thread might mention the HCP" Hello?!?!? are we back in school here. I also had a post deleted for saying

"Rpoints are only offering 60000 points for Lloyds TSB car insurance, but it could be up to 11000 but i'm not allowed to talk about that"

Most (not all) of them are unfriendly and powerhungry and if you question them in a polite, friendly and non-defiant manner, they go overboard. The mods on here are a million miles away from them!

    3. That brings me nicely onto the HCP or Highest Cashback Promise. What is the point of it. That is their way of admitting they rip you off by keeping a huge chunk of the cashback that you earn for themselves. They opperate it because they know that if they didn't then everyone would leave them for Quidco, but you mention HCP and you're in trouble because they don't want people to really know about it unless it saves them from leaving altogether. But why the heck would you want to waste your time submitting claims to get the same cashback as another site, when you could just go with the other cashback site in the first place and save all the hassle!!!

Rant over, sorry about that. I'm sure someone will disagree with me and thats fine. To be honest, I used to be a big fan of RPoints and have defended them on here in the past a great deal when people have said Quidco were much better. Well i've finally seen the error of my ways and will be joining Quidco asap.

Sadly, I'd agree with most of at the moment. If you can get through to Richard Yendall (the owner) you can usually get any problems sorted out, but the "Mods" (are they Mods these days or paid staff?) do sometimes give the impression of being all of 7 years old.

Perhaps they've moved over to a commercial model (RP has been around a long time, but only as cashback more recently) too fast, and these are the consequences?

The HCP is IMHO a good idea - if it works.

To explain, let's look at how all these "cashback" sites work - or how I assume they work (happy to be corrected.)

They all get their ad links through a relatively small number of Online Marketing Affiliate agencies (TradeDoubler, Commission Junction, OMG, being the best known.) They supply the links to the end companies you buy from and pay the site owner a set figure or % of sale each time.

The "cashback" sites make their model by giving us a % of that earning back - it could be a 60/40 split, or 50/50 or whatever.

They rely on getting paid by the thing tracking, and they often get paid several months in arrears - hence the complaints you sometimes see about Points or whatever not being credited.

The real problem as I see it is that it is a relatively low entry cost thing to see up, so the next RPoints, Quidco, Cashinco or whoever is only round the next corner. Any site can vary what % it pays back on each deal, so Mutual Points may have the best reward on one advertiser, and then Quidco on something else.

Therefore the HCP is a good idea (if it works!) because I wouldn't expect any site to have the best deal on anything at any one time.

It does make it all very reliant on the individual sitte and their Customer Service - good CS and "low entry cost" don't always go together!

I could be wrong Edna_Bucket, but i've never seen any cashback site beat Quidco for rewards!

Recently joined Rpoints intending to just do free clicks but found other stuff I would've got anyway so its working for me. Is it a penny a point? I've just taken out ASDA insurance (which I was going to anyway) and it says 2500 points. For some reason on my statement it has it 4 times! So according to that I have 10000 points pending!!! Can this really happen? I'm not counting my chickens but wouldn't it be lovely! I haven't enough points confirmed to claim them yet though, we'll see....
  • re: Morph3us - point 1. Surely you can claim after 14 days using the claim form, I've had quite a few not appear but just write them down when yo udo them and then after 14 days if they're not there claim them.

There is also a site called topcashback but rpoints mont match it cos they don't think that topcashback actually pay out or something.

I use rpoints cos they have some offers that quidco don't have, any that quidco are better I claim for and if it's a quidco only offer I will use Quidco.

Most people do several sites and dont want to spend their time having to write down all the things they click. Tracking should be made more reliable. We are not just earning a few quid for ourselves but loads of money for click sites and companies.

When sites know a company like Jamster (for instance) doesnt track, the sites should ban them as they are only using clickers to take the credit from the sims and then dont pay so who makes money out of it?

Not us and probably not Rpoints either.

There's quite a few bad trackers, Dealtime being one, and all sites should get rid of the crap and find decent clicks.

More to the point Rpoints should raise their points if they will price match anyway then we might drift over to them on a more daily basis.

We clickers go with the highest payers.

Never mind us abusing sites, sites abuse us buy not paying and making excuses about tracking etc. Sort it out!

The problem with that is a) manual claims for points can end up being refused which can leave you out of pocket and b) manual claims cannot then be HCP'd so even if it does go through you can still be out of pocket.

Just safer to use Quidco I think. Got my car insurance through Quidco today and got £100 cashback. It was showing up as tracked within 30 minutes!

I've been using Rpoints for almost one year now. I've always regarded the cashback as a bonus, and so while I use their links to purchase, I don't make the decsion on where to purchase based on the cashback. I try to the recurring clicks most days, and find I can transfer £15 in to my bank account about once a fortnight. I also like the paypal method of payment, and have never had fees deducted by paypal.
The recurring clicks are all together on this page http://www.rpoints.com/e40 and find they all work almost all the time except Devilcards.
