How do I find which Councils add Greater London Authority charges to the council tax?

Just trying to calculate how much my council tax could change buy if I moved out of London.

You need to look at the various councils individually as they all have different rates.

Ones outside London could contribute to their town councils and county councils rather than boroughs and the GLA; so there may not be an automatic gain. THose in unified authorities have one council spending all the money so may have a higher rate.

Remember that the amount you pay is based on the rate set and the band your property lies in, so the higher the property value could mean a higher band and therefore greater bill.

There must be a better reason to go through all the aggravation, upheaval and cost of moving than possibly have a lower CT bill!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Go to the council website for your council and then the site for where you may move to and compare the band levels and rates.

For example, in Milton Keynes, Band A is for properties worth up to £40,000 as of 1/4/1991. If the property is in Astwood, you'd pay £880.55 per annum in tax year 2009/10.

Hi, the GLA precept is levied on all 33 London boroughs. Basically, if the Council's name begins with 'London Borough of'.........it will have a GLA precept. Outside these areas, there is no GLA precept. I believe this year, Boris froze the pecept.

Not all London boroughs start with "london borough of...", city of westminster for example.

:) That's not why I'm moving - just want to get an idea of different costs between where I am now and where I would move to.

Thanks RenStar - I'll look at the boroughs.
