It is well worth seizing the day, these places get so crowded in the summer. Glad you had an 'awesome' time!

Quick update just to say £1k paid to BTL. Rent due from tenants today - hasn't arrived yet. Has arrived a day or 2 late before, but have always been contacted by tenants beforehand. Will leave it until tomorrow night and then contact them. I know he's just taken on a second job, so am hoping they're not scratching around too much for money (also know they have 3 holidays booked this year!!)

On a more positive note, £70 cashback received today and transferred to 'car debt account' :)

Haha! I know! I know one is only a long weekend but the others are a week in the Uk and a week abroad - more than I've got planned for this year! Rent is actually slightly cheaper per month than the going rate - but we didn't use an agent at all, so saves us fees and they save a bit too - win:win for both parties.

Tenant says it should be here on Friday (tomorrow)...

In other news, we had a kitchen planner here yesterday - they have space in July they need to fill - I was thinking more like Sept to get it done - eek! (Although need to see the plan and cost first, of course! :)) I'd best get looking at new appliances (not all need replacing, but some will) in that case....

How can they justify closing a school for polling?

How can they justify closing a school for polling?

It's only primary schools - secondary schools can't be. Polling stations have to be a public/ community building in the area and that bit of our town doesn't have a church/ village hall/ community centre in - the only community building is the school. Some schools used to open and just have the hall out of use for the day but most shut now I believe from a safeguarding pov. Plus the assembly hall is also the gym/ lunch hall.
The Head has written asking for it not to happen again going forward - the village hall and community centre are less than a mile away and the rest of the area (huge and sprawling development) votes in those 2 buildings. Plus some have postal votes now, so the actual number of voters through the door is low :(
