Have you tried a system reboot? Have you tried to get on using something like Firefox or Opera? In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

Have you run a scan with Malwarebytes?
If not download the latest version of Malwarebytes from filehippo.com, when downloaded open Malwarebytes and update it before running a scan.
If Malwarebytes finds anything delete what it finds and then post the log file here.0 -
Try the same with one of the sites you said you couldn't access0
-
Also, you could try this...
Have a look at your "hosts" file which, as you are on XP, is at the following location:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
Right click on the hosts file and open with notepad. You should just have one entry at the bottom which is...
127.0.0.1 localhost
All the entries which have a hash at the start of each line are comments. You only need to worry about the actual uncommented entries. If you have any other websites listed against IP 127.0.0.1 then any attempt to reach them through a browser will fail as that IP is a loopback address. Some "malware" etc. infect your hosts file and you can delete the offending entries and just click "save" in notepad - LEAVE the localhost...
It may not be this but is worth a look as it takes only a quick minute to rule this out... If this file has been "infected", delete the offending entries then you'll have to sort out the cause...0
