How do I get my car back on the road?

I wonder if anyone can help me. In January we took our car off the road and stored it in the garage. We now want to use the car again. Both the Tax and MOT have expired. Where do I stand getting it MOT'd without having it taxed?
I'd need to drive it to the MOT garage but won't have a tax disc which I can't get without an MOT:confused:
Do I just hope I don't get stopped on the way to the garage or is there any other way.

Thanks

my understanding is that as long as you are driving it to a PRE-booked MOT thats OK but it must be prebooked. Not sure how you get around the tax thing though. Presumably you had it SORN when you took it off the road? Was there any information about re-taxing when you did that?
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along with more later.

yes, above is correct, prebook an appointment, and you can drive it there, then once you have certificate, you can go, so you have to

    in this order

    Phone to get insurance
    wait on certificate of insurance
    call for MOT booking
    take car to mot
get mot certificate and insurance docu and take to get road tax

    done - car legal :)
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

Thanks very much, that's put my mind at ease. I'll sort out the V10 tomorrow as well.

    Cheers:beer:
