hi everyone, DH and I are trying to raise money for SANDS Stillborn and NeoNatal Death Society, charity reg 299679
A bit of background why,
i got pregnant with my first child 11 years ago, and had a ''missed miscarriage'' this is where the baby dies but the body fails to recognise this, My baby died at 8 weeks but it wasnt until i should have been 16 weeks (no 12 week scan back then) that anything started to happen. I was devastated - i had gone past the 13 weeks so thought everything was fine
That is when i first came across SANDS, they provide support to parents who have lost children through pregnancy and after birth.
I then went on to have a healthy baby girl who is now 6 (going on 16!) and DH and i decided to try for another, it never entered my mind that i could loose another child, especially after having no problems with DD. But i did, we lost our 3rd child shortly after telling everyone our news. Telling everyone what happened was one of the worst times of my life. A few months later I unexpectedly fell pregnant again, and with no complications had my little boy who is 3 next week.
fast forward to 2009, a close friend of mine (after suffering 2 miscarriages) announces that she is pregnant at her 18 week scan she finds out it is a little boy. a couple of weeks later she starts having pains - dismissed by doctors as a water infection. At 23weeks +1 day she goes into labour, Dr's say she is too far gone to try and stop the labour but because Harley (the baby) was not yet 24 weeks gestation they refused to take any action to try and save him. Harley was born at 5lbs (yes thats right, he would have been a big baby!) but even with his big birth weight they still refused to take any action, Harley passed away at 5 mins old.
I helped my friend through this traumatic time, helping her arrange the funeral - even helping her pick Harley's coffin and gown.
This is why we have picked SANDS, they promote research into the loss of babies lives, we are hoping that by helping this charity they can continue supporting parents who sadly have to go through the same experience.
as in my signature, DH and I will be each doing a skydive - at 15000 feet, we have never done this before so it is something completely different for us. We are also paying for the skydives ourselves - yes you can do these for charity but looking deeper into this we have found that to do a charity dive you have to raise a min of £400 each but out of that only £130 goes to charity! so this way everything we raise goes straight to SANDS.
if you have got this far, thankyou for taking the time to read this -
i am posting here for advice, we want to raise as much as possible and any ideas on how to do this would be brilliant, we have never tried fundraising before so are pretty much newbies at this.
thanks in advance for any advice given

i suppose i am kind of strange, i am actually really excited about it but i think that is partly because of the fund raising effort - it is the first time i have actively raised money for a charity and because it is so close to my heart i want to do the best i can
thankyou once again for your donations xxCan you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
