  • Why not just take the door off and let it show the microwave?

as above. the existing hinges can be move to the top of the door.
yes you need to drill two new holes. and move the hinge fixing plates from the side to the top of the carcase.
    simple enough really.
    ie
imagine turning the whole unit 90 degrees?

the only other place is on top of the fridge freezer but the cat eats her food up there so that the other cat cant get at it (the other cat is on a diet)

ive seen lots of microwaves above ovens, which are head height, the microwave would be at a height of about 5.8

Sorry no microwave advice, but I love this! :D

Presumably, when the dieting cat is able to jump up on top of the fridge freezer, you'll know the diet has worked?

you're absolutely right, i have been increasingly concerned that she has made attempts in the last few weeks to jump up on the work tops and nearly suceeding, something she could never have done before she lost a bit of weight.

next problem to solve is how to stop her eating the dogs food which is at the bottom of the fridge freezer. i bought a higher bowl stand, thinking she wouldnt be able to reach her neck over and down into the bowl but she has still been eating his food, so i need to get a much higher one.
she's getting much more militant about getting food out of us now, she was sitting next to us on the sofa the other night whilst OH had fish and chips, trying to steal some with her paw, so naughty

Aw! I can't resist my cats' plaintive look when we have fish and chips. You'd think we never feed them.

A pair of these Top Flap Hinges may be what you are looking for.

Seem to be much cheaper here.
