I have, luckily, never been in your situation but I sense your relief on being released from your burden.

As for the direct debit, get your partner to cancel that with her bank today! If she has internet banking she can probably do it on-line!

Well done, glad it went well for you. No you are now BR the OR needs to interview you (everyone who goes BR has one) to talk through your SOA and get a feeling of why you have gone BR. Don`t worry as long as you are honest with them you will have nothing to worry about.

Roses, no need for them to cancel them, just get your partner to ring his bank, or go online and just cancel the direct debits yourself. If they are due out Mon or Tue, then probably best ringing the bank just to make sure its done.

Also, OR needs to ring you to arrange an interview. Interview is typically on the phone, but can be in person. It'll last about an hour and they'll run through what you wrote on your form in more detail.

Edit: damm, Dojoman and Paul Varjak beat me too it. :D

ahh ok :D what a relief i feel so so happy its feels like a massive weight has been lifted of my shoulders i really didnt want to go down this route as im only 20 but atleast its done :) thank you all for your help in the running up to my bankruptcy :D
  • You need to call the bank to cancel the DD, so get your partner to do that as soon as possible.

The OR is the person who deals with your finances now and he/she needs to write a report to send to your creditors. They call you to discuss any assets you may have, your reason for BR, what the money was spent on, whether you have suplus income after your normal living expenses have been accounted for etc. More or less going over what is on your BR form.

Whoever gave you advice really should have explained all this to you before you went BR.
  • God, you lot are fast!!

Bear in mind the receiver "sometimes" contacts your landlord as well......even if you dont have debts with them (just to confirm you live where youy said you do etc)
