Lost antifreeze cap?!

Just opened bonnet up as coolant light came on earlier but went off again before I had got home...

When I looked at where the antifreeze cap goes it isnt there:D dont know where its gone but assume someone must not have put it on right but thought I had - will it be okay without one or do I need to get one

Rather urgently. The coolant won't stay in there for long and your engine will be completely wrecked, I'd be inclined to not drive it whatsoever until a cap is fitted.

thanks for the replies, have been in touch with the garage to try and get one - are they quite standard on cars? my car is a 14 year old golf so is getting on a bit:D

VW ones are generally all similar from what I have seen.
