Hi Everyone....looking for some advice please. I have an 02 plate BMW 318i SE.

It is in great condition...mileage has just touched 100000 !!!!

I drive to work and back every day and this is racking up the miles (95 per day)

As i said not had any major problems with the car...just the usual, brakes, tyres, oil etc.... and 1 or 2 small minor things that have been sorted.

Its a lovely car but I am just concerned about the mileage on it with back and forth to work.

Any ideas how long this beauty could keep me on the road before it goes to motor heaven and I have to purchase another one ??

How long is a piece of string?

If it is in such good condition and working well, nothing to say it won't perhaps do another 100K miles. Equally however something major could go bang tomorrow, then perhaps it won't be economic to repair.

It is a guessing game, but with modern cars it should touch wood keep going...
  • Hi i had the same model as you have. I got 190k on the clock before it became a false ecomony.

Service it on a regular basis, i did mine every 15k. If they are looked after and issues are spotted early then they will run and run and run!

A colleague has an Audi A6 - I recall him telling me it had 186K on it and that must have been 18 months ago - still see him in it every day.

At the mileage you are acumalating it will be worth little anyway so if its reliable I would ignore the mileage and just keep driving it!
  • So long as you continue to change the oil regularly it will do double that mileage.
