ASDA Online Shopping Warning

In effect we have been accused by ASDA of lying; here is my short (well nearly short) story and hopefully a warning to others about this greedy insensitive corporation.
About a month ago we thought we would try shopping online with ASDA for our weekly goods. Each delivery has revealed a number of problems ranging from receiving other customers’ items, poor expiry dates on produce and culminating with last night’s delivery being short of a 1ltr bottle of whisky.
We called the ASDA help number to report the deficiency only to be told that they couldn’t refund anything until they had checked with the driver and then with the store Manager! I interpret this as “sorry you are considered as a liar unless the driver finds the item or the Manager confirms an additional bottle unaccounted for in the store”.
We were told we would receive a call later that evening or tomorrow morning. As I am sure you have guessed already, we didn’t receive any call. I have just called them again and been told that the driver didn’t find the bottle and there was no information on their system from the Manager.
Whilst I appreciate there are people who will take advantage of deliveries by reporting things missing that actually are not, ASDA should put in place a procedure that requires the driver to obtain a signature for specific big ticket items such as spirits and cigarettes rather than labelling their customers with the liar badge first.
It’s very short sighted of them as they have now lost me as a customer.
It would be interesting for others who have ASDA deliveries to add any storys to this thread so that others have a better understanding what they are likely to experience before pressing the commit to by button.

Thanks Paul, good idea.0 -
This may sounds daft but if I had ordered a litre bottle of whiskey then I am sure if it was not in there when the driver turned up I would notice.
after all its not like it was a tin of beans, or a sauce packet0 -
My wife regularly orders our weekly shop from tescos , Sainsburys and asda.
Asda and Tescos are by far the better services, as they price match items that they are out of stock, so for instance, if you order a value pizza and they are out of stock, they will give you a brand name for the value price.
Sainbururys don't do this !
Last week we got a delivery from Sainsburys (as we had a £10 off voucher) and the driver bundled all our bags in the door, and we was missing 2 creates of lager !! , I pointed it and the driver confirmed it as missing and refunded the money.
The BIGGEST PROBLEM we have had is say there is a 3 for 2 offer on certain products, now, if they swap one of the items for another brand because they are out of stock then you end up paying full price for all the items because the offer will not be valid for the 3 for 2 deal and it wont register on the till !!!
^ This has happened to us numerous times !! we complain and they refund the money but its a reoccurring problem that doesn't get sorted.0 -
The only problem i had with Asda was the driver dumped the bags in outr hall and left. Then i unpacked and noticed 14 freezer items missing. They were still on the van. I have to say tho the driver realised and brought them back later in the day0

I absolutely agree, we only noticed it when tesco were doing a 'meal deal' with there finest range, it should have worked out something like £20 for a meal, pudding, wine, chocolates but it ended up costing us about £40 because the chocolates were out of stock and they replaced them with something else.
Called up and it seemed a regular problem, they did refund the money but i bet this does go unnoticed by people.0 -
This is my first post but I have been a member a long time.
I use Asda all the time and every time they deliver they say, if you have a problem please call the store and not the call centre.
The call centre are useless, the store absolutely perfect.Member for a long time only recent poster
***THANK YOU***
To all those who post comps, no wins yet though!0 -
You say you've received other peoples shopping too. Ask Asda to prove that the bottle wasnt delivered to someone else by mistake."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0

Never tried Asda, however Tesco I have used. Once I found a bottle of whisky missing, after the driver had gone. Phoned Tesco and they apologised, and took it off my bill. I went to a Tesco store and bought it there, and found they gave me that free.
Things I will not buy on line are fruit and veg, found they always put a few things in that's over ripe or if you were selecting your self, you would not select.0
