Dealing with phone calls

I was getting a load of automated calls from creditors (distressing enough, but I'm quite seriously ill) ... I looked up their website(s) and sent them each an e-mail (not from my regular e-mail address, I created one specially using Yahoo! mail) and the e-mails said that these automated calls were very distressing and disturbing to a person who was seriously ill, and they had 36 hours to stop their system from making them, otherwise they would incur a charge of £5 for the first call, £10 for the next, £20 for the next, and so on. They stopped ...
I've done this three times now, so it seems to be a useful tactic.0 -
:)Great advice of fermi and bat:)
I got that sick of them ringing when they used to ask for security questions I used to give them the wrong answers and they dont know what to do:D0 -
Well, Barclaycard have received my letter by now, and the calls have not stopped or even decreased. This morning I received a voice message on my work extension telling me to call this asap regarding "an important business matter". So they are actually leaving me messages now....on my work phone....
This is still after ONE missed payment.0 -
I have sent the letters asking for my phone number to be removed and have had a email from a creditor to say they are intitled to ring me and will continue to do so,can I do anything else its the phone calls at work which are the main problem.sonnyboy0

When they phoned me at work I asked them their full name then i told them that all my calls are recorded at work and I will have them done for harrasement
I also told them that every time the phone I get in trouble for private calls, and if they continue I will told there company responsable when I loose my job. and I will use the call recording as evidence.

I went down a very similar route, I only have a mobile but told anyone that has run that this was a works phone and that I was not allowed to accept private calls, asked them to remove the number as they were placing my job at riisk and to contact me in writing.
Or if a withheld number comes in now I also said to a couple that they had the wrong number...worked i had calls first 2 weeks and nothing for last couple of weeks0 -
You could always get an answerphone for your home number, preferably one where you can listen to the message as it's being left. If it's someone that you want to speak to, you can just pick up the call. I already have an answerphone and, as I have just become unemployed and can't pay my credit cards, I am expecting to get several calls. Will they get the opportunity to talk to me - never!!! They can use good old snail mail.0

We went BR on 15th March, and have been receiving calls from one particular DCA acting on behalf of Halifax (them again!). We had our OR interview yesterday and mentioned it to him. He said that we should do what we have been doing which is saying that we have gone BR, that the debt is no longer in our hands and to contact the OR stating our BR number, and also state if they refuse to stop calling that their actions constitute harassment and as that is a Police matter if they call again instead of going thru the correct channels we will be contacting the Police.
Hubby told them that last night when they called, we have not received another call yet today! - I will let you know if the call materialises!Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -

Any chance that you have an understanding colleague or manager to say you are not allowed personal calls on work time and that they as manager are demanding the work number be removed? failing that, get a colleaugue to say that you no longer work there....BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Thanks for your replys I am going to tell them that I am not allowed personal calls and will hold thm responsable if they continue to call and I lose my job. I will also tell them that If I lose my job they have no hope of getting any money.sonnyboy0
