Bank Account with Bad Credit?

Hi All

I have just moved to Ballymena from Lancashire and bank with HSBC. Due to my credit history going downhill they took my switch card off me last year. NOW the nearest branch is 40 miles away and is not realistic to keepgoing there to draw money out each time i need it.

There is no Natwest over here which i know gives a step account to people with bad credit.

Does anyone know of who to go to over here? Am getting desperate to leave HSBC as theyve treated me terribly and dont care which kind of bank account i get now!!

Many thanks in advance for any help!!
Claire :)

I know the Northern Bank will give you a savers plus card, you can use this for direct debits etc as well, dont know about other building societies banks etc but Im sure they Would all work the same. Do you not have a hole in the wall card where you could withdraw money from with the one you are with?

    Hi Corey

Thanks for the suggestion for NOrthen Bank, ill give them a try.

As for HSBC, they wont give me ANYTHING, so all i can do to access my money is write a cheque and use it at the counter service and considering their branch is in Coleraine and im in Ballymena, its a bit long winded!!

Well just be careful. There is a lot of controversy about the 3 big banks as you have probably already seen! Although you cant get an overdraft etc on a savers account so you shouldnt be able to overspend. What about the post office as well? They let you take money out in the post office with a card. Ring around and you should find something you are happy with. ;)

If you're not too worried about having a branch in North Wales, then Natwest will happily take you - ie if you don't need a branch you can still have a Natwest account.

Do the Northern Irish banks still work internally in terms of upgrading, personal loans or is everything now done through external credit checks?
