I've just cancelled my RAC as it's too expensive. A couple questions:

1) I was going to pay the RAC in 4 chinks of £40.51. They've D/D-ed me for the first and then I cancelled after 1 month). Can I get any money back?

2) Does AutoAid cover Scotland too?

    1) When you took the policy you signed up to a years contract. You may get a small theoretical refund on premiums but will also have to pay a cancellation fee which will be greater than the refund - if memory serves me right it is £30 to cancel the policy.

    2) Why dont you ask AutoAid?

I renewed with the RAC & then discovered that I had 'free' AA cover with my bank. The RAC refused any refund, even tho it had only been renewed 2 weeks prior. I paid the lot in one go. Hope you have better luck than me.

    1) Thought that might be the case - but thanks anyway!

    2) Because they're not going to say "Supposedly, but our service isn't much use to anyone outside the Home Counties" (should that be the case). But I thought others might have experience and would be able to share!

Ok.... there is a difference though between the questions "do they cover" (ie yes no answer) or "is their sufficient cover" (ie judgement required). Given that you have to pay for the recovery first and then claim the money back they obviously dont maintain their own fleet of vehicles and therefore I can see no reason why scotland would have any better or worse coverage than any other breakdown company
