Hello,
Does anyone know how long after an event has occurred can you complain? I know that you should complain as soon as possible, but is there an actual time limit?
Thanks

In short, yes there will almost certainly be an actual time limit.
In practice - in depends on what you are complaining about, where you are (Scotland doesn't have the same rules as England), whether there are any contractual terms governing complaints, and on many other things.
Care to give us any more details?0 -
England.
It's really just a thought that I had and wanted the answer to. But it came about because a couple of years ago (2 and a half) I brought two pairs of glasses from Specsaves, I paid to have the thin lenses and coatings etc.. the person in the store did the measuring thing and when I got the glasses one pair was fine but the other pair just didn't fit properly. I went back a few times and was eventually told that I shouldn't brought the ill fitting pair as they didn't fit my head (??) and so it was my fault really. Maybe that's true but I thought all glasses were made to measure so when the sample ones I tried on in the shop when deciding on what glasses I wanted didn't fit I wasn't surprised. Needless to say I didn't go back to the shop again. Just wondering if I've missed my chance at saying anything now or if I could have at any point.
Thanks for your time.0 -
I think you've missed your chance of complaint as it's so long...sorry!0

Officially you have 6 years to make any claims (under the Limit of Liability Act), but as Gordikin has said, it is probably too late.0

Just to let you know I decided to go ahead and make a complaint anyway. I sent a letter to Specsavers last Saturday, got a call from them on Wednesday and went in the shop and got a refund today - I guess it is always worth a try :-)0

You can complain at any time, it's just whether the recipient would feel obliged to do something about it. Like you say, you had nothing to lose, and I would always complain if I was unhappy with something.
