EMC advisory Services - getting out of their contract

My husband has signed up EMC advisory's services to claim back 2 PPI's which we feel were mis sold to us on two TSB loans taken out in 2005. After giving them the information, we received a letter from them on the 8th March 2010 saying that they had sent a complaint letter to TSB about one of the loans and they were waiting for a reponse. We have heard nothing since from EMC, but have received a letter from TSB saying that they will pay back the PPI on one of the loans plus interest. The other loan was not mentioned.
Obvoiusly this is the better option, but we are now tied to EMC. Has anyone cancelled their contract with EMC and if so what did they have to pay to get out of it?
Any advice much appreciated.

  • Hi Gemma,

I'm no expert but if you have signed a contract and authority which states that you will pay them a % of any compensation you receive then i'm not sure you can do anything. Some of the contracts include all monies received in relation to the claim whether the payment made direct to your bank or deducted from the loan balance.

Maybe try visiting your local CAB they would be able to inform you of your rights, if you don't get the answer on here tonight that is.

As much as a dislike ambulance chasers, you did agree a contract with them to do a job and they have done that job. You cant pull out after it is done.
