the only option is to take the keyboard off (usually by undoing screws underneath, and or gently prising around the kb edge), and try and clean it up. Reseating the ribbon cable might help. Be gentle though, they are delicate.
Kids and laptops don't seem to go together, if they aren't sick on them, they smash or write all over the screen.
In the meantime, you could either get an external keyboard, or copy and paste R's from a document/webpage, or use numlock + ALT + ascii code for R (using the 7890uiopjklm keys).
Code for R is 052(mik) or 072(m7k)
so set numlock on, hold down ALT key, and type mik or m7kEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thankyou sooooooo much, Ill let my dad take it to bits when he comes back off holiday, til then ill use copy and paste, (didnt even think about that)
The ascii codes you gave me do either H or 4 but i found the correct one (its 114) I didnt even know about that so thankyou again.rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry, I was going to check them, but it doesn't work on my laptop.. Should've guessed they where out A=65, so 52 is obviously wrong.
I think I read the hex number from a table instead of the decimal.
082 is the other one.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
have you tried popping up the offending key with a small screwdriver, cleaning as gently as possible but thoroughly underneath with an earbud and putting it back?
It may work.0
