Combi boiler hot water pressure loss

Hi All
I have a combi boiler in my house. It used to work okay but for some reason the shower mixer tap doesnt work as before. The hot water loses pressure few seconds after turning on and slows down to a trickle. Its then a case of rotating the tap further to increase pressure with the result that the water flow dramatically increases. I then slow down the flow and the pressure remains okay with intertmitten loss in hot water and I have to do the process all over again. Its pretty annoying and I cant seem to figure where the problem is.
Any advice will be helpful.
