hi,

I have an account with Santander, and although i have had it for about 6 months, have only been using it for the last month and intend to make this my main account. So will be funded with over 1000 per month.

I have the reward account with no overdraft.
My question is, do Santander credit check for overdraft and credit card applications like HSBC do? Or is it based on your internal score?

I am in the process of getting a mortgage so want to refrain from credit checks where possible, but would quite like to transfer a balance to a new card.

In response to your question Dan, yes, they do run a credit search on you. It's not all based on credit referencing/scoring though. It does include personal circumstances and affordability.

Does that include the o/d and the c/c?
What sort of thing is considered? And how long should i be running my account for before applying?
I will be crediting around £2000 per month, and will set-up DD's etc.

Will one be automatically avaliable at any point? Or is it always based on an application?
