There is always one way or another to get a 5% discount off Virgin Holidays.

If you had done a little research and saved the 5% or £150 then take off the £60CC Fee (which i agree is an absolute rip off) and you would still be £90 better off.
That said, if you had have phoned and moaned about the 2% charge then no doubt they would have waived it on a £3k holiday anyway.

I really can't help thinking that there are more than a few ways you could have avoided the fee.

    Erm, yes in a way.

Its much safer to pay by Credit Card than by a direct transaction to your bank account. Surely you know this??

The money is there in my bank account but I would never pay via this method - the credit card companies know this and thats why these charges are appearing now.. to extract more money off people - come on, wake up...

I would use my debit card, which gives me protection through the Visa chargeback scheme. Surely you know this?

So no one held a gun to your head. You chose to pay by credit card, and someone in the IT dept at VH decided to change the payment screens just for you.

I don't think it is me that needs to wake up!
    Gone ... or have I?

Wow, you're a real daredevil favouring online debit card over credit card transactions:T
The Visa chargeback scheme sounds lovely, but really, you are more secure using credit cards online (hope you don't become another statistic of internet fraud anytime soon)

i would question the fact that you booked with virgin one of the most expensive travel companies to the US rather than the credit card charge. you would have saved even more than the 2% if you had read this site and booked direct rather than come here and moan about been ripped off. There is plenty of advice if you look for it and every travel company charges for credit card use you were actually lucky that it was only 2%.

also can I suggest that you tell the facts and dont have a go at users who have been here for years and obviously know more than you, who are only trying to offer advice, with the new verified by visa you are better protected now for debit and credit cards.

thats my first rant on mse rant over :(
