billing enquries with an energy company

Hi everyone
My energy provider has not sent me a bill since my card metre was changed to metre even though we have been calling the company, this has been over 2 yrs. we have been paying an amount each month. all of a sudden they have sent a bill with covers the past two yrs. am i still liable to pay

    If they agree you have tried to contact them to get a bill, you are only liable to 12months back billing.

    However as you've been paying each month anyway, the back billing only applies to any excess you owe.

    e.g. say you paid a total of £2400 over 2 years and you only used £2400 worth of energy, you don't get any refund.
