  • I would only use the government website then at least you know you are going to get what you paid for. I'm unable to post direct links

    www (dot)gro (dot)gov(dot) uk/gro/content/certificates/
  • As Danikawaii says use the offical gro. gov one. Get your requests in sooner rather then later as I believe the prices are going up slightly at start of April.

Very easy to do, i've actually had to get a full birth certificate for DS and did it over the phone (via the official gro.gov) and arrived quickly.

The other sites will overcharge you!

  • The prices are going up more than slightly from 6th April. From £7 to £9.25.
    So get one ordered now.

You do have to know the GRO reference to get them at that price if you don't know it or how to find it then they will cost more but not as much as some of those sites charge you.

You can always contact the Register Office the birth was registered at and ask them what they charge ( it can be slightly different) but with the date of birth they can usually find it without the reference.

Which ever way you choose do it within the next few days.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

If you ring the office you want the certificate from it is hugely cheaper thanordering them online!! It usually works out at around £30 with admin charges and postage and all sorts of other rubbish yet is £7ish from local office or £12ish from another.. does depend on the certificate though.

I ordered one online at https://www.gro.gov.uk last Friday. It cost £11.50 with guaranteed five working day delivery. It arrived this morning.

You can also order one with a two working day turnaround for £27.50.
Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before
  • If you phone the relevant office, they send it out the next day, I needed to order my childrens ones, I done the eldests online but couldnt do the youngest because he was only about 9 months old so called up and done his, the online one took almost 2 weeks to arrive!
  • This is the cost of a certificate ordered online at the moment.

So £7 if you know the reference £10 if you don't.
