I'm looking to buy a digital photo frame for my mother but have been surprised by the number of poor reviews for them.
There doesn't appear to be one standout frame or manufacturer to go with.
Does anyone have any first hand experience ?

I bought a cheapish 7" model from Comets last year, and it has been fine, but nothing spectacular.
If I were to buy another I would look for a number of features that I don't currently have.
1. Random picture slide show. It's incredibly annoying to have to start from the beginning of your file set every time you turn the frame on.
2. Auto orientation. If I take a picture in 'portrait' mode, I'd like it to appear that way in the frame, not shown sideways! Software programs can do this, so why not the frame?
3. Adjustable stand. Most picture frames have the type of stand you find on a real picture frame, the 'lean-back-on-a-leg' type of thing. This isn't the greatest method of displaying digital photos unless you have the frame below your usual eye level.
I'd also recommend a model with a remote control. I think they all come with one these days, but best to make sure.
Sony and Kodak seem to get good reviews on the testfreaks site.0 -
I’ve got a Sony one and it has most of the mentioned features but to be honest it’s off most of the time. I got the 7 inch model and if the picture is portrait and the frame is in landscape the picture is much to small. Also the angle of view is not very good.0
