Mondeo LX Diesel Estate 02 Plate - Replacement Exhaust.

I've been spoilt - it is 18 years since I last needed work done on an exhaust (my previous car was a Toyota and it was still on its original exhaust when I sold it at 185K miles &11 years old) .

The 140K miles Ford car has been smelling a bit of diesel on start-up recently.

The back one of the two expansion boxes (near side behind the real "axle") is starting to fail (the outer of the double skin on the box is coming away) and yes there is a small hole in the upstream weld.

In the short term a blob of "Gun Gum" has solved the problem BUT it will need replacement.

It seems that the whole exhaust is just one unit all the way from the engine?

The rest of it looks as good as new.

Is there a way of just replacing the rear box?

Either way what sort of money am I looking at?
