SMP & Redundancy

Hi
I'm a bit anxious my compnay is trying to wriggle out of paying my SMP. I have been employed by my firm for 3 continuous years and have recently been made redundant. My leave date is the end of this month and I have already reached my qualifying week for SMP. So I know and my firm know I am entitled to claim SMP. My leave date is before I could have offically gone on mat leave so I am assuming that I would not be in receipt of my SMP until after this date? Our payroll is outsourced and they seem to be having great difficulty agreeing how and when they will be paying the SMP. My last day is looming and they still have no answers for me and I am worried that once I have left it'll become a matter of 'out of sight out of mind'. I have told them I have spoken with ACAS who agree I qualify, I think initially the difficulty they were having is the decision wether to keep me on payroll and pay monthly or in a lump sum. Now I'm worried about why they are delaying their decision. I'm starting to think I'd like my lump sum instead as I have lost all confidence about being paid monthly. Can anyone offer any experiance or advice???

Not really the same, but my wife was made redundant on the 1st of December. Thankfully she was just in her mat leave period. They have to pay you SMP, you have already qualified. How big a gap is it between the leaving date and the earliest start date for mat leave?
