Credit card - PPI

Hi

I would appreciate your advice. I have had a b/card for a number of years and am paying a whopping £53 quid a month for optional ppi. My problem is working out how much I've paid over the years - am I right in thinking I can request the paperwork for a £10 fee? I can't even remember when I took the card out :o or ever being formally asked if the ppi offered would meet my requirements - it was just added on. I feel I need to look into this...apologies for my naievity and thanks in advance.

    Hi there

Yes you can request what you call a Subject Access Request, known as both SAR and DSAR, they have 40 days to comply, and of course as you know enclose the £10 payment by cheque or postal order.
There is a letter SAR template with details here:

However, they only normally tend to go back as far as 6 years, depending if they still hold info for any longer than that, hopefully they will do and enclose all they hold on you which includes as from the year you taken out the Credit card etc.

You can though still reclaim just as long as you have the account number, they may even send any info/paperwork back with their response, its up to you of course.
And you do not have to write down the amounts on the letter either, you can request for these if successful or they should supply them with a detailed breakdown, either way.
For more on reclaiming with guidelines and templates etc here:

I would post all letters within the post office to receive your proof of posting.

Good luck and ask for further help if required, and please keep us posted, cheers.;)
