JSA Overpayment

Hi,
I need urgent advice.
I received a letter to say that my JSA Contribution Based Allowance had been overpaid. This was because I had worked part-time over xmas (1month for 2 days a week). I handed in all of my evidence(payslips etc).
The DWP say that I still continued to receive payments when I should not have. I was not aware that this job would affect my claim in this way.
I was told that they would deduct £5 from my JSA for the period I had worked.
Can anyone give me some advice?
I will of course appeal.

I believe it's actually the other way round. If you work and earn more than the JSA payment, you only get £5 from JSA.PennyCrayon wrote: »Hi,

Put in an appeal as soon as, if you can prove that you handed in your payslips on time then it is classed as their mistake and they have to write the debt off, (you shouldn't have to pay for their mistake). The jobcentre should have put this in your notes when you went in to sign on with your B7's.
When you work and claim JSA they give you a £5 disregard i.e if you earn £20 in a week the will only take into account £15.
But if you earn more than the weekly JSA allownce for your age bracket then you will be niled for that period.:j Mummy to little Poppy June :j0 -
Hi,
Many thanks. I am little annoyed that I have been made to go in and sign for money which I am not entitled to. There was no mention of this, not even in the makerfield letters that are sent to me.
I'm guessing that they should not have deducted anything as made more than the JSA.0 -
Help!
The job centre lost my payslips as they have no record of them. They only have my B7s.
I did hand them in as I had to print them off(they were emailed to me by employer). I took them along each week along with the B7s and they kept them as I do not have copies at home(yes, I have checked).
The job centre say that they have no record of it being sent off on their system!
Someone has clearly been neglegent.0
