Hi all.
I live up on the fifth floor, with windows all down one side of each room that face west. It gets rather flippin warm in here. I have vertical blinds that cover the windows, but with them closed it means i cannot open the windows.
i'm looking for something i can stick to the windows - big sheet of shiny foil? to block out some of the heat/light. But not really sure what or where to search.
Any clues?

I know nothing about this company, so this link is not a recommendation but just an example of the sort of thing that might help.

wow that's pricey..eek
i'm happy to not be able to see through, the windows start approx 2ft from the floor and go to the ceiling and they are ~11ft wide. I don't strictly need all this light!!0 -
What about shutters? I have no idea how much they cost but Hillary's blinds sell them.To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0

Small awnings on each window, electric operated???? Not cheap but an option. Best shade comes from the outside, not after the heat comes in.0

Now you have given me an idea for our conservatory, I wonder if it would make a difference though? I have interior blinds that cover the roof and the windows but they dont seem to make a difference at all. An awning sounds like a great idea although I not sure if it would make a difference as it wouldnt cover the roof!!To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0 -
fact is once the sun gets inside, it just heats up the air inside. If there is no open rooflite or windows, oven. When fitting roof blinds I worked in temp (in the summer) 137 degrees in the roof space of a glass conservatory.0

What is wrong with fitting a set of vertical blinds.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
