air in water pipes

can anyone tell me the best way to deal with this - every time we flush or use taps upstairs the pipes bang for a good couple minutes afterwards - do I need to call a plumber or is there something I can do myself

thank you in advance

there are devices you can fit that help stop water hammer and or air locks.
water hammer arrestors are cheapish and simple to fit.
make sure all your pipes are clipped properly. a big cause of pipes moving.
plumbers can be very lax with the correct rules on pipe clips.

If this i happening to your hot tap, you may already have an air bleed valve in your airing cupboard next to the hot water tank. If you have such an old fashioned thing! (I do!)
